Protocentral Sensything Ox is the next-generation upgrade to the Protocentral OpenOx wireless pulse oximetry development board. Built on the advanced ESP32-S3 microcontroller and the high-precision AFE4400 analog front-end, this board delivers real-time SpO2, heart rate, and PPG waveform monitoring with significantly improved speed, memory, and wireless performance.

The ESP32-S3 features a dual-core 32-bit LX7 CPU (up to 240 MHz), 512KB SRAM, and support for up to 8MB PSRAM, offering powerful edge processing and low-latency data handling. It also brings Wi-Fi 4, Bluetooth 5 (LE). With rich 45 programmable GPIOs options, it’s a flexible platform for a variety of health and IoT applications.

Sensything Ox enhances usability with an onboard microSD card slot for local data logging, making it ideal for long-term, offline monitoring. It comes bundled with a Nellcor-compatible fingertip SpO2 probe for comfortable, non-invasive measurement.

Pulse oximetry is performed by detecting red and infrared light absorption in the blood using a finger clip sensor, enabling accurate and continuous monitoring. With upgraded hardware and software capabilities, Sensything Ox is perfectly suited for wearable health devices, remote diagnostics, and biomedical research.

Since the amount of blood flowing through any blood vessel varies (pulses) with the rate of blood from the heart, this can also be used for measuring heart rate without the need for connecting any ECG electrodes.
