Display Configuration

Legacy guide — no longer updated

The dedicated Display firmware turns the HealthyPi 5 into a standalone vitals monitor with live signal plots — ECG by default, plus the SpO₂ / PPG and respiration waveforms accessible via the side navigation switch.

Use this firmware when you want a self-contained kit that doesn’t need a phone or laptop to be useful. For numeric-only vitals (no plots), the simpler Display Mode from the Basic firmware is enough.

Download

Pick the build that matches your display panel:

ST7796 (black display) Download

Flash the firmware

Drag and drop the .uf2 onto the RPI-RP2 mass-storage drive that appears when the device boots into UF2 mode. Full step-by-step instructions are on the Welcome page.

What you’ll see

By default, the screen streams the ECG plot with vital-sign numbers (HR, SpO₂, temperature) along the edges. Pushing the navigation wheel up or down switches to the next plot — PPG, then respiration, and back round.

Navigation wheel requires Zephyr firmware

The side-actuated navigation switch is only wired up in the Zephyr firmware — the Arduino firmware doesn’t drive it yet.

Requirements

  • HealthyPi 5 Complete Kit with display
  • USB-C cable for power (not included)
