HealthyPi Move is an open-source biometric wearable in a watch form factor. This page walks you from unboxing to first sync.

Your data stays with you

Everything Move records is stored on the device and your phone — no cloud accounts, no third-party sharing. See Data Ownership & Privacy for the details.

What’s in the box

Box contents laid out: HealthyPi Move, USB-C cable, USB-JTAG adapter, finger PPG sensor, watch strap set

# Item Qty
1 HealthyPi Move wearable 1
2 Silicone watch strap set 1
3 USB-C cable 1
4 USB-to-JTAG adapter 1
5 Finger PPG sensor 1

The JTAG adapter and finger PPG sensor are for developers and aren’t needed for normal use — set them aside if you just want to wear the watch.

1. Attach the strap

Pull the lock on each end of the silicone strap and hook it onto the watch body. The strap should click into place.

2. Charge the watch

Plug the USB-C cable into the watch. Move powers on automatically when charging — there’s no separate power button needed for the first boot.

Charge it fully before first use. With no touch activity, the screen turns off automatically to save battery.

Use a proper charger

Charge only with a certified USB-C power adapter capable of 5 V at 1 A or more. Avoid wearing the watch while it’s connected to mains power.

3. Wear it correctly

For accurate readings, the watch should sit snugly against the skin — tight enough that the bottom sensors stay in contact, loose enough to be comfortable for extended wear.

Power on/off: hold the side button for 3 seconds. To power off later, swipe down on the home screen and select Power Off.

4. Install the mobile app

The HealthyPi Move app is the companion for trend data, exports, and firmware updates.

First-time pairing

  1. Turn on Bluetooth on your phone.
  2. Open the HealthyPi Move app.
  3. Go to the Devices tab at the bottom.
  4. Tap Scan. Your watch will appear as “HealthyPi Move.”
  5. Tap your device to pair. Grant Bluetooth permissions when prompted.

Once paired, the app reconnects automatically whenever the watch is in range.

5. Sync your data

Tap the sync icon (top right corner of the app). Move pushes the latest readings to your phone and the app updates these trends:

  • Heart rate (continuous)
  • Skin temperature (continuous)
  • Activity — steps, calories, active time (continuous)
  • SpO₂ (on-demand measurements only)

You can sync as often as you like. See Sync your Move for the full data-export workflow.

When to erase the device logs

If you’re setting up a fresh unit (or you’ve received a refurbished one), clear any pre-existing log data on the device:

  1. Open the app and go to Devices.
  2. Tap Erase Logs.
  3. Tap Scan to connect — logs delete automatically once connected.

You only need to do this once.

Do’s and don’ts

Read before regular use

  • Do keep the watch snug but comfortable so the bottom sensors stay in contact with your skin.
  • Do charge only with a certified 5 V / 1 A+ USB-C adapter.
  • Don’t immerse Move in water or wear it in the shower — it is not waterproof.
  • Don’t wear the watch while it’s plugged into mains power.
  • Don’t expose it to temperatures above normal room ambient.
  • Don’t use Move to diagnose or treat any medical condition — it is not a medical device.

Next steps

  • Update the firmware — the unit ships with pre-release firmware and should be updated before regular use. The easiest way is the in-app update.
  • Learn the screens — start with Home to see how to navigate.
  • For developersSet up the Zephyr / nRF Connect SDK to build your own firmware.

Support

Move is designed to be repairable — the battery, display, and sensor board are all replaceable, and the hardware files are open. Contact us before attempting any disassembly so we can guide you and keep your warranty intact.
