Updating Your Move
Update using nRF Connect
nRF Connect is Nordic Semiconductor’s general-purpose BLE tool and works as an alternative DFU method for HealthyPi Move.
The simpler path is the HealthyPi Move app. Use nRF Connect only if the app can’t pair with your watch, or you specifically need to push a firmware build that isn’t on GitHub Releases yet.
Move ships with pre-release firmware that has minimal functionality. Update it to the latest release before regular use.
1. Download the latest firmware
The firmware file follows the xx_xx_update_xx.zip naming format.
When downloading the zip, choose Open with nRF Connect — this makes the file easy to select in the next step.
2. Prepare your phone
- Enable Bluetooth.
- On Android, also enable Location (Android requires Location permission for BLE scans).
3. Run the update
Pick your operating system:
Android
-
Install nRF Connect from the Play Store.
-
Open the app and tap Scan (top-right).
-
Tap Connect next to your HealthyPi Move.
-
After connecting, tap DFU at the top of the screen.
-
Select the firmware zip you downloaded.
Can’t see the zip?Browse to Device name → Downloads →

In the dialog, choose Confirm only and tap OK. The update starts.
-
Wait for the upload to finish — Move will restart on the new firmware in 1–2 minutes.
iOS

-
Open the app and tap the scan icon (top-right) to list nearby devices.
-
Tap Connect next to your HealthyPi Move.
-
Tap the DFU icon at the top of the screen.
-
Select the firmware zip (
xx_xx_update_xx.zip).Where’s the file?If you used Open with nRF Connect when downloading, the file is in the app’s Inbox. Otherwise, tap Open Document Picker and navigate to it.
-
Tap Start on the next screen.
-
Wait for the upload to finish — Move will restart on the new firmware in 1–2 minutes.
Troubleshooting
- Press and hold the side button on Move for 1–2 seconds to restart it. The watch will start advertising again.
- Retry the update from step 3.
- If multiple nRF Connect attempts fail, try nRF Connect Device Manager — it uses a different DFU implementation that sometimes succeeds where nRF Connect doesn’t. Or fall back to the HealthyPi Move app once your watch is reachable again.
