Updating Your Move
Update using nRF Connect Device Manager
nRF Connect Device Manager is Nordic’s dedicated DFU tool. It’s an alternative firmware update method for HealthyPi Move.
The simpler path is the HealthyPi Move app. Reach for Device Manager only if the app’s update flow can’t complete — Device Manager uses a different DFU implementation that occasionally succeeds when other methods don’t.
Move ships with pre-release firmware that has minimal functionality. Update it to the latest release before regular use.
1. Download the latest firmware
The firmware file follows the xx_xx_update_xx.zip naming format.
2. Prepare your phone
- Enable Bluetooth.
- On Android, also enable Location (Android requires Location permission for BLE scans).
3. Run the update
Pick your operating system:
Android
-
Install nRF Connect Device Manager from the Play Store.
-
Open the app. Tap the settings icon (top-right) and uncheck every filter option. Your HealthyPi Move should now appear in the device list.
-
Tap your HealthyPi Move to open its configuration page.
-
At the bottom, switch to the Image tab — this is where firmware upgrades happen.
-
In Firmware Upgrade, select the zip you downloaded in step 1.
-
Choose Confirm only as the update mode and tap Start.
-
Wait for the update to complete. Move will reset automatically and reboot on the new firmware.
iOS
-
Install nRF Connect Device Manager from the App Store.
-
Open the app and tap your HealthyPi Move in the device list.
-
At the bottom of the screen, switch to the Image tab.
-
In Image Upgrade, tap Select File and pick the firmware zip.
-
Tap Start, choose Confirm only, and the update begins.
-
Wait for the update to complete. Move will reset automatically and reboot on the new firmware.
Troubleshooting
- Press and hold the side button on Move for 1–2 seconds to restart it. The watch will start advertising again.
- Retry the update from step 3.
- If Device Manager keeps failing, try nRF Connect, or — if the watch is reachable from the app again — the HealthyPi Move app.
