Updating Your Move
Update using HealthyPi Move mobile app
The simplest way to update your HealthyPi Move firmware is from the HealthyPi Move mobile app. The app checks for new releases and walks you through the update in a single tap.
This is the preferred firmware update path. Use it unless you’re updating a device that can’t pair with the app — in which case see Update using nRF Connect.
Before you start
- HealthyPi Move app installed and paired with your watch (see Getting Started if you haven’t paired yet).
- Watch battery at 50 % or more — DFU runs over BLE and an interrupted update can leave the device in a bad state.
- Phone with Bluetooth on. On Android, also enable Location (required for BLE scans).
Update steps
-
Open the HealthyPi Move app and go to the Devices tab.
-
Make sure the watch is connected. The app shows the connection status at the top.
-
If a new firmware release is available, the app displays an Update available banner. Tap it.
-
Confirm the update. The app downloads the new firmware from GitHub and pushes it to the watch over BLE.
-
Don’t move the phone away from the watch during the transfer. The progress indicator stays on screen until the update completes.
-
When the transfer finishes, Move restarts automatically on the new firmware. The whole process typically takes 2–3 minutes.
If you don’t see an Update available banner, you’re already on the latest release. You can confirm the current firmware version in the Devices tab under your watch’s details.
Troubleshooting
- Press and hold the side button on Move for 1–2 seconds to restart it.
- Wait until the watch shows the home screen, then retry the update from the app.
- If the app can’t reach the watch or the update keeps failing, fall back to Update using nRF Connect.
Alternative methods
For special cases (e.g. recovering a device that won’t pair, or flashing custom-built firmware), see:
